We have all been there, that look from that paper-thin store clerk that looks you over from head to toe, when you ask where you can find a thong body shaper or another sexy lingerie item. Her look of disgust, quickly summing up her thoughts, you are too big to wear sexy undergarments!
Why are we so obsessed with size and this necessity to conceal our femininity?
One of the most common question asked at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York when observing some of history’s most glamorous ensembles and historic textiles is: What size is it?
We live in a society that is obsessed with size and sadly; body size identifies us as a person. During the late 20th century, society has defined that the “ideal” body size for a women to be ghastly thin, almost anorexic and waif-like.
Throughout centuries, women’s curves were celebrated and even portrayed as beautiful Greek Goddesses. Just think of the Aphrodite, the goddess of sexual love and beauty was often round, pear-shaped with extremely large breasts.
At any museum or gallery, you can observe voluptuous, curvaceous, plump and rounded feminine silhouettes in one masterpiece after another.
Thankfully, in recent years some of the top celebrities are celebrating their natural beauty, by accepting their voluptuous curves proudly and looking amazing every step of the way.
Embracing Diversity with a Flare for Style
The 21st century has been shifting this negative view of body size that the 1900’s promoted through advertising and movies towards celebrating body diversity through media and fashion.
Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Khloe Kardashian, Ninki Minaj, Cardi B, Ashley Graham and many more have decided not to conform to society’s so-called “ideal” body size and to be proud of their voluptuous curves. By flaunting their feminine figures on all types of social media daily, the result of which has reached out to the hearts of the wide diversity of woman worldwide.
These celebrities aren’t any different than us, they have giving birth, they have hips and breasts, big breasts and they have cellulite! The reason behind their confidence with embracing their curves and imperfections has to do with knowing how to highlight their body’s best features and choosing the right undergarment to do just that.
Kim Kardashian doesn’t try to hide the fact that her body gets the extra sculpting it needs to look its best, by wearing body wear and waist trimmers. On her Instagram account, she can be seen wearing a thong waist trimmer under the tightest little black dress.
One of those body flattering undergarments is the thong body shaper, providing that tummy-tucking power that every woman needs but with a touch of sexiness that will help you rock even in the tightest dress.
Rihanna is another perfect example of one who is breaking down the stereotypes that people associate with body size and image. If you can boost your self-confidence and feel more attractive by highlighting your curves with the help of a waist trimmer or a thong body shaper, go for it!
